Is it possible to Lose weight permanently?

“I’ve lost weight, now what?”  Most fad dieters may find it easy to lose weight but find it hard to maintain the weight.  To Lose weight permanently requires a lot more dedication than losing weight.  Keeping the weight off may mean that you have to make some lifestyle changes.  Commitment is a key factor to achieving the body that you want and in keeping it that way.

To Lose weight permanently is a difficult task, so you will have to make some changes to your lifestyle in order to keep the weight off forever.  Here are some tips to lose weight permanently.

1. Eat a balanced diet.

Fad diets (such as Atkins, South Beach, and the like) should be avoided as they only offer temporary weight loss.  They are highly unhealthy and unbalanced.  Fat should be reduced in the diet.  Sugar should also be reduced.  Eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, and grain products.  Choose to eat boiled or steamed food, rather than the fried kind.  Salt should also be used in moderation.  Fiber should be increased as it helps to keep you full.

2. Be optimistic!

Looking at the brighter side of things helps to elevate your mood and can help you feel better.  Tell yourself that you can do it, and motivate yourself through your daily activities.  When you have confidence in yourself and your abilities, you’ll be more likely to work harder and fulfill goals that you can be proud of.  The trick is to make positive thinking feel natural, just like breathing.

3. Be consistent with your exercise routine!

Being consistent doesn’t mean you have to stick with one exercise.  Try to mix up your routine to keep yourself motivated.  It also prevents you from getting bored with exercise.  Diets can only do so much when not coupled with exercise.  You don’t have to kill yourself every week working out, but it’s more of finding a routine that you enjoy doing, and will continue with throughout the rest of your life.

4. Change your lifestyle into one that helps you to keep off the unwanted pounds.

If you want to continue living a healthy life, you will be willing to make some necessary changes in order to pursue this.  Everything doesn’t have to happen overnight, but you can start out slow, changing 2 or 3 things at a time.  Once you get the hang of these changes, you can start incorporating new ones.  An example of a good lifestyle change is keeping a food diary.  You’ll be able to keep track of what you eat and therefore, keep off extra weight.  Another change is with your daily routine: waking up earlier than usual to fix your breakfast or lunch.  It saves you money and it keeps off calories from pre-packaged food.  If you usually park your car near the door, try doing the opposite.  Walking to the door can be beneficial for you.

Some food for thought: your commitment and dedication is very important in keeping off the unwanted pounds.  It takes a lot of determination to stick with the changes.  But as you get used to the changes, everything flows smoothly.  As they say,  things are hard before they become easy.
